The Center for Child and Youth Policy 2016 Dissertation Fellowship

The Center for Child and Youth Policy at the University of California at Berkeley (CCYP) brings together people from a variety of disciplines from within the Berkeley community and beyond to discuss current issues and information related to children and youth at the local, state, and national levels. Through this interaction, individuals from various disciplines, communities, and backgrounds can engage in vibrant dialogue with others who share an interest in child and family issues and children's policy.

CCYP is offering one (1) fellowship to a UCB graduate student advanced to candidacy whose dissertation focuses on a child or youth policy issue. Reflecting the diversity of the faculty affiliated with the CCYP, the fellowships are designed to attract students from any discipline on campus.

A fellowship in the amount of $5,000 will be offered.

Applications are due by 5:00 on Friday, April 29, 2016.

Applicants must include the following:

1. A cover letter not to exceed 2 pages.

Describe the problem you are investigating, your research methods including design, sample, instrumentation, and analytic approach.

Include a description of how your dissertation relates to child or youth polic, and the potential implications of your findings.

Provide a description of your plans following graduation as they pertain to child or youth policy.

2. UCB (unofficial) transcript.

3. Two letters of recommendation. One letter must come from the dissertation advisor and confirm that the student is likely to file the dissertation and graduate by May 2017. Letters should be submitted directly by faculty to the Center for Child and Youth Policy (
